This was a project that was right in our wheelhouse. Our customer determined the existing cable rack systems that suspended from existing bar joists were loaded to the maximum with no room for additions. The decision was made to install a new steel assembly – supported by columns from the structural floor slab – over an entire switch/data room. Our tenured and experienced technicians, using fire-rated lumber, installed a temporary, code compliant second-story platform over the entire area to be impacted by this new assembly, as we have many times in the past. The steel structure was then installed to the customer’s complete satisfaction.
